FM: The Lucky Fisherman of Visby - 1/72

by David

Hey all,

David here :)

welcome back to my little series where I show some projects I finished over the course of 2020. Today, I am happy to present to you in 1/72: The Lucky Fisherman of Visby.

Along with the Knight of the City of Lübeck and the Teutonic Knight (and a host of other, not yet finished minis), this vignette is part of a multi-project display I have been preparing for some time now on the topic of the Hanseatic League. The scene depicts a fisherman of the proud Hanseatic City of Visby who has just made the catch of his lifetime. The figure is a conversion of a wonderful white metal cast from Bad Boy Miniatures. I already converted and painted that mini in the past, but from the moment I had seen the mini for the first time, always had the idea to do this little fisherman scene. Here're a couple more perspectives on the mini:

Thanks for watching, folks. As always, I am always looking forward to reading your thoughts in the comments. Talk to you soon!

Best, D.

Hi Jungle,

some more finished miniatures that never saw the green of the jungle.
This time some imperial army soldiers by Games Workshop in 28 mm ...

First one is a - I call him - Elite Guardsman - and somehow he is inspired by Necromunda. I imagine him as a noble house bodyguard or something ... Hope you like him!

Next one is the special miniature of Severina Raine, the imperial guard comissar.
She is really cool and was fun to paint. I really like the dynamic pose.

Raised from the Dead: MV Zombie Community Project!

by Roman aka jar

Hi everyone!

Remember the MV Zombie Community Project?

If not,
you can read all about it here:
http://massivevoodoo.blogspot.com/2016/01/community-project-zombies-stage-1.html

It was started in January 2016 :D

Raised from the Dead?

With the new studio moved, my life more in balance I was sitting down to a cool painting day with my monkey brother Johannes recently. We chatted and talked about life, drank Coffee and I said the following: "The new studio really arises great energies, kind of these that make me go tackle some projects I did not touch for while, for example the Zombie Project!"

Silence.

A thought.

I can say it again or I just start.

Well, I did the last.

And I am in full swing:

Do we need more Zombies?
Well, honestly not really. If you still got some at the side, painted for this project please drop me an email to get my actual adress and I will include them, but do not paint new ones for it as the numbers are good. I will count them in the end, but as it looks we are around 350 at the moment ...

My email adress:
jarhead/at/massivevoodoo/dot/com

Thanks to everyone involved in this so far for your support! Together we create this as a community, even I am kind of doing the art direction behind it. I enjoy it a lot!

To follow the progress you can check back with my Instagram and also see a video there under my Reels of the actual state.

So far from this litte update!
A great weekend to you all and stay healthy!

Keep on happy painting!
Yours,
Roman

Review: Private Coaching with Stephan

by Roman aka jar

Hey Jungle,

many weeks ago I was teaching Stephan in a two day private coaching: Stephan had many questions to different materials and how to tackle them and he was doing many first timers.

me & Stephan

Stephan wanted to paint his first large model (a bust), painted his first female figure, heard about the principles of atmospheric painting for the first time and much more.

It has been two intense days filled with a steep learning curve and good chats. Unfortanetely we did not manage to finish the bust by @blackcrowminiatures in the two days as she was bigger than we thought, but we came a long way on all material questions and included them in the practical use of atmosphere painting. Her right arm was the area we came furthest. Stephan went home with many answers to his questions.

Thank you for the cool two days and your trust in my teachings, Stephan.

Thank you for coming, Stephan!

Keep on happy painting!
Yours,
Roman

Review: Private Coaching with Sebastian

by Roman aka jar

Sebastian and me

 Hi Jungle,

some time ago I enjoyed helping Sebastian to improve his painting skills in a two day private coaching.

Sebastian discovered miniature painting again during home office and after a long, long break from it he started to paint again. Mainly for #tabletop, je started to paint his old #whf Empire Army. Sebastian wanted to learn many things during the two days:
  • technical improvement
  • light and shadow placement
  • how to improve faces and paint skintone
  • how to paint fabrics and leather
  • how to start a proper freehand for his army
  • how to paint metallics ...

I decided to help him with all of it, but also explain to him how he can paint atmosphere to his models to give him a roundabout happy painting flow and plan. His progress was a joy to watch in these two days!

Thank you for coming to my studio and your will to learn from me, Sebastian!

Thank you for coming, Sebastian!

Keep on happy painting!

FM: Teutonic Knight in Livonia - 1/72

by David

Hey all,

David here :)

welcome back to my little series where I show some projects I finished over the course of 2020. Today, I want to take you to the Eastern Baltic in the Middle Ages - in 1/72 scale, of course.

The vignette is part of a multi-project display I have been preparing for some time now on the topic of the Hanseatic League. The scene depicts a knight from the Order of Brothers of the German House of Saint Mary in Jerusalem, commonly known as the Teutonic Order. The Order was originally founded in Palestine to care for and protect Christian pilgrims on their way to Jerusalem. They later expanded their activities significantly and were involved in the so called "Northern Crusades" in the Eastern Baltic. In the wintery scene depicted here, I envisioned a knight of the Order somewhere in Livonia, preparing for an armed encounter with some Livonian warriors. The figure is a wonderful white metal cast from Valdemar Miniatures.

Thanks for watching, folks. Feel free to drop me a line in the comments. Talk to you soon!

Best, D.

FM: Horus Heresy 30k Ultramarine Captian

by Roman aka jar

Hi Jungle!

I saw I did not show this guy in here yet.
I painted up a heavily converted 30K Ultramarine Captain as a comission earlier in 2021 for K03rnl
https://www.instagram.com/k03rnl/ . The Kitbash, conversion and basing was done by him and I had to bring him to life. It was a lot of fun.

Work in Progress first, laying out basic colors and textures ...

Christof Keil aka K03rnl is well known for his outstanding conversion work!

The final, finished Captain ...

and what Christof said about his comission:

"What I love about it is how he plays with textures and colourplacement, highlighting specific parts of the miniature by the grade of details shown.

Sadly the pictures do not do the paintjob justice as it is a fluid thing when holding the miniature and turning it around. It is a cool thing to have pieces like that to try to see how masters paint first hand."

This was a really cool comission!
Thank you!

Keep on happy painting!
Best Wishes,
Roman
