Project book | Act I Prologue: A ballad of courage and strange things - by Sebastian

by Sebastian

Sebastian here,

I haven't posted anything for a long time and so I thought, what would be better,
as a kind of project book for the preparations for everything that is pending.
All divided into different files. The basic idea is that
I want to show you my ideas. From the beginning of the idea, through the preparations,
until completion.

In the next act I want to show you my preparations for the WME. Since there is only
almost 3.5 months, there isn't much time left. But about that in another post
more

Here is a short explanation for the post title. I like something like ballads, poems
or songs. That has a very calming effect on me. So it was clear to me that something like that
must be in the title. I'm always willing to try new things

And I'm not afraid to try them either. On the other hand, such a project is a book
quite new for me, actually already strange. But I still want you to be a part of it.
So far I've always "only" painted and what was finished was just finished. I've never
I really thought about what I should have finished by when. I want that now
to change.

You may be curious.

Yours
Sebastian

Review: Private Coaching with Andreas

by Roman aka jar

 Hey Jungle!

Time for another private coaching review.
Some weeks ago I had the pleasure to welcome Andreas for a two day private coaching in my studio.

"You actually managed to stop me from painting by numbers :-) I still like to watch YouTube from time to time, but no longer to "steal" color recipes. The painting room in the basement is almost finished and what can I say, it will do without a PC!

- Andreas

Andreas approached me to step up his miniature painting game. Increasing his knowledge and level up.
He told me he was kind of stuck and also confused as he watched a bit too much of youtube explanationn videos. He asked me to silverline his skillset and approach.

Well,
as a teacher since almost two decades I know this problem. Many of my students arrive at my place with this type of confusion. The issue I see is that a lot of people watch great content onn youtube by great content creators, but they just watch and maybe try it once or twice and then go to the next video.

There is a difference between "consuming knowledge" and "learning knowledge". With Youtube I see it happen often that painters just consume and this creates confusion.

Well,
I took Andreas by the hand and enjoyed to see his knowledge grow. I made him learn to paint without recipes, but with a vision of atmosphere.

Here on the left you can see Andreas result of these two days. On the right you can see a miniature he painted before the coaching. I am a very proud student.

Student & Teacher

"
Dear Roman,
at this point I would like to thank you again.
It was two wonderful days with you in the studio and I felt extremely comfortable with you. I'm not the kind of person who can point that out. But your manner and especially your patience felt very good. And by the way, I took a lot with me and learned in the two days what I can pack in my tool box. In any case, my two sons were enthusiastic about the Salomon....:-)))
The encounter with you belongs in that category that one will never forget and will always be remembered and as an absolute enrichment in life............ I'll be happy to come back!"

- Andreas

Understanding atmosphere gives you a great plan and approach

Thank you, Andreas!

Best Wishes,
Roman

FM: Troglodyte

by Roman aka jar

 Good Morning Jungle,

painting a bust from Spira Mirabilis is always a joy.
It was the same with the Troglodyte. Somehow I did not want to paint him in the obvious fire OSL theme. I decided for magic dragon fire ...

Hope you like him!

Troglodyte

2022

Work: painting
Scale: 1/12 Spira Mirabilis, Lucas Pina

This bust is for sale!
You can check back with details on how to make him part of your collection via my PDF cataloge:

Keep on happy painting!
Best Wishes,

Roman

Review: Private Coaching with Christian

by Roman aka jar

 Good Morning Jungle,

a great start in the new week to all of you!
We start the week here in the massive jungle with another review on a private coaching.

Roman & Christian

This time, Christian visited me for his second private lesson. He already learned so much in his first one: https://massivevoodoo.blogspot.com/2020/02/review-private-coaching-with-christian.html

"I had a lot of fun again, I learned a lot, found new motivation and I'm already looking forward to my next visit to Augsburg! But I have to admit, I was pretty happy that I didn't have to drive 6 hours home on Friday evening. I think we painted almost 24 hours in the two days and I was really through on Friday (albeit in a positive way)... you could easily see that from my NMM attempts on the sword... ;)""

- Christian

Christian's coaching goal was how to visualise an idea and how to make the right decisions at the right time to follow the path to exactly paint his vision. He did so with this beautiful bust by Spira Mirabilis:

Thank you for your continous trust in my teaching, Christian.
It was a pleasure to see your skills grow once again and I am sorry for putting your brush and brain to work this massively.

Thank you and keep on happy painting, Christian.
Best Wishes,
Roman

FM: Champion of the Emperor

by Roman aka jar

Hey Jungle,

My favourite Space Marine ever?
This one.

The new Black Templar Champion of the Emperor is one of my favourite miniatures by Games Workshop ever. They really did a fantastic job catching the soul of this character.

Hope you like my version. You can find a step by step on how I painted his black armor in my etsy Tutorial 'Masterclass - Painting BLACK'.

There is much more to learn in this PDF. Enjoy!

In private collection.

Keep on happy painting!
Best Wishes,
Roman

Review: Private Coaching with Annette

by Roman aka jar

Carsten, Annette, Roman

"Thank you for everything. It was a lot of fun"

- Annette

Hey Jungle,

time for another private coaching review.
This time a bit different and away from the regular miniature painting content.

Carsten, who I know as a student of mine from several workshops and soon his first private coaching asked me if I would also teach and help his mum, Annette in terms of canvas painting.
As a teacher for art and art history of course I said yes.

It was truely a special birthday gift from son to mother and Carsten joined us for some relaxed miniature painting while Annette and I went through tons of theory. Annette wanted to know how to start planning an idea. How to construct it and how to work first time with acrylic paints.

We started from learning to draw perspective, followed by how to basicly give volume their shapes and definition and went all in depth before going for the canvas.

Thank you both for such beautiful two days!
It is truely amazing what Annette achieved in these two days with tons of content.
It was a joy as a teacher to see her skills and knowledge grow!

Keep on happy painting, Annette!

Best Wishes,
Roman

Review: Private Coaching with Niklas & Philip

by Roman aka jar

"It was again great with you, we are still very excited about everything we learned yesterday and are super satisfied with the training result."

- Philip & Niklas

Thanks to Philip and Niklas who visited me some weeks ago
for a one day hit and run private coaching session.

These many topics were my students topic in one day: Tips in building and painting gaming bases, building a display base for the first time, training on painting NMM, tips on OSL and tips on how to paint an Age of Sigmar Ogor Army, fast. Intense and focused coaching session with two cool brothers.

Philip came for the second time and this time brought his brother, Niklas.

Thanks for coming and learning from me!
Keep on happy painting!

Roman
