Ok back to topic:
Winners of the MV Challenge 2017

Before we show you our judging results we both - Josua and I - want to tell you something:

"The MV-Challenge was a great success for me. The amount of people getting creative and  entering both categories made me feel really proud and enormously happy. It showed me again what i love and cherish about this hobby and his community. Thanks to all the participants for so many wonderful creative projects. I am looking forward so much to the next one...  "                                                             - Josua

"Amazed is not the right word, positively overwhelmed and speechless fits much better. So many winning painters that took the challenge to learn and experience something new created so many beautiful entries and everyone with heart and soul in it. No, amazed does not fit properly. Proud - like Josua said - is the right word here! I can not wait until we present you the next challenge :)"
                                                                                                                                                     - Roman

Thoughts on judging:
Well this was no easy job, you can bet. We discussed through sleepless nights and even had one day where we did not want to speak to eachother as our harsh discussions made us go mad at eachother. You are all just winners in this challenge. We will present you both categories now and show you the winners, we will also add a small comment on our judging criteria to the categories. Unfortanetely we do not have the time to write a small comment to every entry these days. Sorry. We would love to, but life, work and love keeps us busy.

Judging Criteria
We focused our judging criteria on your repaint of the infinity figure. The quality, variety and bravery of your paintjob and how you dealt with uncommon volumes. Basework is secondary and did not recieve a lot of attention while judging. Sad but true - this is what we mentioned in the rules. Nonetheless some of you did build beautiful bases. This category was really hard to judge with 70 entries (including out of competition, that we of course did not judge).

A really hard category to judge. You all did amazing figures, told amazing colorful stories and showed us so much passion by putting so much fun and joy in your Infinity repaint.

#Honorable Mentions

Projects that were really close in recieving a medal:

#Bronze
We had to give two :)

Alexander

#Silver

We also had to give two

Richard

Now that's it. Congratulations to everyone!
You all made this challenge come to life no matter if you have won or not, without you our challenge ideas would be dust in the wind! We are preparing a big MV Challenge 2017 overview post that also will inform you about our further process in shipping your medals, prizes and random raffle draws.
Stay tuned in!

Update on Seminar Roadmap 2018

by Massive Voodoo

Hey jungle!

good news! After some sleepless nights, we have managed to finalize the last PDFs for the English classes and uploaded them onto our server.

Please have a look at our Seminar Roadmap for 2018 and download the PDFs you need. If you have any questions, feel free to send Peter an e-mail. You can reach out to him via baphomet--at--massivevoodoo--dot--com.

There are still enough seats left for the English classes, but you should be quick in your decision, as there are surely many other enthusiastic painters, who are interested in joining the seminars.

The German Beginner Class is already fully booked, but we offer to put your name on the waiting list. So, if a painter has to cancel the class, you might still get your chance to join the seminar.

We keep you updated!

MV Zombie Community Project - Update #07

by Roman aka jar

Dear Ladies and gentlemen,

once again some time has passed quietly (way too fast in our opinion) and it is urgently time for the next update about Roman´s and Bene´s Zombie Community Project. Last Update was during this summer and we can tell you one thing that is for sure: This project did not die. Even it is about Zombies. Let's call it a walking dead project. It grows, steady and slow.

If you don´t know what we are talking about you are welcome to check the link below, where the idea behind the project is explained. You will also find there a link to all the updates and names on people who are supporting us in this:

Allright.
Some months have passed silently on this. Let's catch up with what happened. To be frank, it was not much as life is keeping most of us involved in this project in a daily grip of checkboxes, but something has happened and we want to tell you:

Raffa painted up a Zombie for the project - thank you for your donation!

We recieved a small envelope with more Zombies.
No comes the stupid part that Roman is to blaim for: We do not remember from whom and Roman took photo of the letter and thought as soon as this update will be written the name will be on it. See for yourself: no name ... yay! Sorry! Please get back to us if you find your Zombies here right now:

Five supercool Zombies ... thank you!

All new models are up on the third group community board.

As we said earlier, this project is not dead. It continues and plan is to stil start with the base in the near future as soon as life and work allows. And Christmas, oh dear :D ... Roman in the meantime did not paint a Zombie at all, but collected some toy cars for being added to the base. Collection was done also on flea-markets and Roman had to bargain hard with some kids about their cars. No more cars needed for now, a fine collection to build up the right ambience :)

We will keep you posted about further progress, never worry that this might die :)
If you want to pledge your support to this community project too here is more information:

Keep on happy painting!

Review: Private Coaching with Daniel

by Roman aka jar

Hello Jungle,
today it is time for another private coaching review.

This time I met Daniel from Germany. So far we both did not have had the chance to meet up and I was surprised on the topic we both decided as Daniel so far did not visit my beginner's class. I was not scared at all to go in depth about ambience and atmosphere with him when I saw the spark of painting joy in his eyes early that morning.

Daniel & Roman

What a beautiful day to start painting! So blue!

Theory in the process ...

What Daniel has to say about the coaching (english):

"I could take the time today to say thank you again for the two wonderful days." Looking back at the coaching session our talks were almost as important as the painting techniques. I was taught a Jedi view of miniature painting. Now also started on vacation with a sketchbook to attribute my ideas and sketches within and to experiment with compositions on paper. Thanks for that. Please keep your open and inspiring nature for your coachings. You have an invaluable feeling for your students and that makes you such a good teacher. Now enjoy the hike with your father and let me know you will find the lost legions. I'm not going to call you "Master" as a graduate but better call me your "Padawan". See you in next year at one of your workshops for sure."
- Daniel

- Daniel

These studio sunsets ...

At the end of our first day we decided to enjoy some sunrays and a cold beer just around the corner.

Daniel's result is not a finished miniature after these two days. This rarely happens. Daniel picked a cool bust by Black Sailors and he learned tons on how to implement atmosphere, painting techniques and a good flowing work order.

I can not wait to see him continue with this piece!
Keep on happy painting, Daniel!
