Good Morning Jungle,

time for another review of a two day private coaching. The last coaching in 2021. Jannick visited me and we had some intense two days of painting and learning!

"The coaching was amazing and I will remember it forever.
Let's see what can be done with it ;D"

- Jannik

Jannik's result of the coaching:

During the last two days I was teaching Jannik @bebetterhumans about atmospheric painting, a good workflow, in depth color theory and much more. He painted his first bust during the coaching: Gaia by @karolrudyk. Thank you, Jannik for your trust in my teaching and your will to learn from me. It was my pleasure.

Thank you for coming, Jannik and I am looking forward to see you again!

Keep on happy painting!
Roman

Hey Jungle!

As the new year starts I am still a little bit behind with catching up with reviews.
I think this is a good sign - it means a lot of things are happening and keeping me busy.

I got one really nice memory to share with you today:

A two day private coaching I had with Andrew

His learning goal in short:
Paint better and faster gaming Miniatures for his #wargames. I picked him up with learning a happy painting workflow based on atmospheric observations, pushed him through technical content and broke this knowledge down with him again to make him understand all my thoughts while I speedpaint a gaming miniature in 15 Minutes.

This was Andrew's learning goal:

Main Topic:
- visualising a painting plan (a vision) with including atmosphere (helps to achieve a happy painting flow big time)
- technical improvement on the way, increasing knowledge of zenital light and contrast use while learning more about the "color" works

Side Topics:
- Skintone Variations and when to include them
- Bravery while painting that leads to easy and beautiful effects

And it was a joy to teach him, even though our two days were intense as ... well, yeah.

This is what Andrew says about his coaching:

"I was happy and excited to meet Roman and to get master-painter wisdom from him. I didn’t have specific expectations, but I knew that there would be something important and eye-opening. And I was not mistaken at all!

These 2 days were intense but I had so many “klick”-moments ((c) Roman), when my sporadic unorganised knowledge and experience came all together with new missing “bricks” of wisdom and knowledge that Roman carefully shared with me. These all came with both theory and practice supporting each other in a perfect balance. I did a lot of things I haven’t done before at all, e.g. super-smooth colour transitions, work on colour saturation, mixing of specific colours from miniature paints from just primary colours, actual painting on paper (I haven’t done it since early school!!!). Well, I am a very happy miniature painter now :)

And I must mention the atmosphere in the studio - Roman makes you feel that you are not on a private coaching with miniature painting rock-star, but like you’re at home with your good old friend who is showing you new tricks and answers on any questions you can come up with. And I am very grateful for that. Now I feel loaded with new tools and I’m plotting already, how exactly to apply them in my endless projects.

Thank you Roman and I’m sure I’ll test your wisdom again as soon as I have a new bag of questions :)

                                                                          - Andrew

Thank you for two beautiful days with a lot of #happypainting!
Thank you for your will to learn from me!
It has been my pleasure!

Keep on happy painting!
Best Wishes,
Roman

Good Morning Jungle,

some good old Hasslefree Miniatures are back on my table.
I really love these sculpts by Kevin aka Hasslefresian. They always have such a strong character and are not overloaded with details.

I painted this guy from their postapocalyptic survivor range:

Hey Jungle!

before I start teaching private coachings next week
and finish my holiday I got exciting news for you!

I am on etsy now!

With the plan to bring you fresh,
inspirational and insightful tutorials and step by step PDFs about my miniature artwork.

Why etsy?
Many of my older articles are here on MV's tutorial section and they will stay there for your use and inspiration for free.

To be honest I do not find the time to write many articles for free anymore, just because this job is my daily life. I teach, give lessons in private coachings, weekend workshops, paint miniatures for collectors and much more. The time needed to prepare and publish a large article that gives good insight and explains my processes properly takes a lot of time.

What to expect?
I do have many unpublished step by step articles that are ready to be on etsy, I am preparing new ones at the moment and will also revisite some of my older ones, combine them to a certain topic, will correct language issues and will invest time to explain the content with today's knowledge.

There will be artprints, art postcards and some upcoming 3d files!
Stay tuned!

Right now, these articles are fresh and new:

- The Game of Scale
- Old Barbarian SBS
- The Nightwatch SBS
- Frank von Stein SBS
- more to come!

Thank you for your support!
Roman Lappat Miniature Art on etsy!

Keep on happy painting!
Best Wishes,

Happy new year, Jungle!

It feels so good to start fresh into a new year full of new adventures and hopefully less Covid one day!
Let's hit the jungle drums with - still catching up - and another private coaching review!

Harry
visited me last year during some snowy days in Germany and
this is what he said about his coaching:

"Write reviews, assign stars, the degree of my satisfaction on a 5-finger scale. I can not stand it. Actually. This time, however, I was not forced to give the crispness of a delivery of French fries a galaxy of stars or to give the usability of a vacuum cleaner an appropriate rating for cat hair.

Yes, this time I want to write something.

I, Harry, am a military model maker and I want to breathe more life into my models with figures. My level of experience when it comes to figure painting is theoretically high and practically nonexistent. A friend of mine recommended a certain "novel" to me. And I thought: “What can go wrong?” I booked private coaching in a timely manner and traveled to Augsburg at the beginning of December. I came across a wonderful person and artist who was excellently prepared in didactic terms and who was an incredible help in my first steps. It was an exhausting and insightful two-day trip that inspired me so much that I immediately booked part 2. I can't show much productively yet, but the first results will be available in the next few weeks until the second encounter. Dear Roland - I will give you 6 out of 5 stars and I thank you for great conversations, perfect coffee and many aha experiences and lights that have come on in my head. See you! Not a threat, but a promise"

. - Harry
