Edgar's Forgeworld News

by Roman aka jar

I usually don't post many figure news here, but this video has to be shared because of two simple reasons:

a) I really like Edgar. He is such a nice guy and I already had the pleasure to meet him once. Would have loved to spent more time together, but Games Days are always so busy. He is also a great sculptor and I am very happy that he is working at Forgeworld.

b) Second reason is I do like the Horus Heresy figures and the Horus Heresy itself. I have read some books, but not all so far and it really is a grim place in this future. I always enjoyed the character of Erebus and so I am very happy to see Edgar's vision in the sculpt. Love it!

Thanks for the support to Dragonlord Games

by Roman aka jar

Well,

BIG thanks to Dragonlord Games from Dillingen-Saar, Germany,
who support the jungle via their banner in the article section.

It is a real pleasure to work with the guys from Dragonlord Games. Why we know you might ask? We have been there twice for painting classes organised by Andy - here you can find the first one from 2011 and the second one from 2013.

We already have cool plans for the next studio quest together with Dragonlord Games.
Stay tuned for that!

Thanks for your support!

Kong's WIP-thoughts - September #01

by Roman aka jar

Aloa voodoo people,

I don't believe it. I am holding a brush again after being away from the Studio for a longer while.
In fact it was not easy getting back on track. During my big project with those Tyranids the brush felt like being accrued to my hand and brain. I had not to think how to move it, had not to think what I painted, I just did and it worked.

Right now it feels different, more like "how the hell do I have to hold a brush, more to the tip or more to its back? And why isn't the colour doing what I want it to do?" - great not, but normal after a little absence :D

So beside cleaning up my long time dirt in the studio I started another figure.
It is from Pegaso and shows a Celtic Warrior in 90mm Scale. I don't want to do something special here, just want to get back in painting and so I started with just working my basic colours to the different materials on top of a black and white priming situation with acrylics.

I did not use the airbrush here even the figure would be a good practice ground for it. Not much has happened here but if you look close enough you can see how repeating the basic tone to an area already creates different strong areas of the colour itself (good example is the face here). One layer on top of the other always makes the over intensity of the tone stronger.

So far so good. Not much happened here further. Still have to get back to find out how to handle a brush :) - I am thinking about using some Oil colours again after it feels like ages have passed since I used them.

We are already packing our stuff as Raffa and I are heading out for two of our BÄM² painting class weekends in Hamburg. We will stay there until the end of September.

Keep on happy painting!
Best Wishes

Batman!

by Bene aka Benji

Hey everyone!

It is time for another finished miniature, in this case a (for me) special one because it is an exchange mini for Roman who did his mini for me already some while ago, if you don´t remember, it was this one:

I was really motivated at this time to do my exchange miniature for him, but I wanted to do something with a personal meaning and not only a miniature, as he did the same (because I like the computer game Battlefield pretty much). And then I had for a long time no idea for a miniature which would satisfy my vision for the exchange miniature. So time went by and at the Duke of Bavaria I finally found what I was looking for: The Batman from Knightmodels (because Roman likes Batman really much). Of course I knew this figure before but it never came in my mind to use it for the exchange. But on the Duke of Bavaria it made click and I had my miniature for him. After that I started the painting pretty fast, but then the classic thing happened to me, it was pretty close to finish but then I stopped painting it for some unknown reason, which made the project stand around in my cabinet for some more months until I finally finished it about a week ago, when Roman was on vacation, because I wanted to surprise him. Which luckily worked pretty good. Ok, so that´s the story part behind this figure but I think you all want to see pictures, so here they are:

And as always, if you want you are invited to vote:  http://www.puttyandpaint.com/projects/2821

So far from me!

Cheers,
Bene
