another project is growing fast at the moment, it's a 54mm Version of Inquisitor, inspired by an old John Blanche artwork...
The base is almost entirely made with custom made plaster of paris parts and the mini and little grotesque angel are sculpted with magic sculp and a new prototyle putty called Bees (new poly clay beta version). some parts like the base for the flamer and head from the angel are GW bits that have been modified a little bit.
The project is still far from being finished but i think you can maybe get a first impression :)

The weather outside is very delightful and preparing the Painting Class is a true joy - looking forward to the weekend full of colours and prepared myself already with something to paint and demonstrate:
The little fairy is by Smartmax and will be a gift for a lovely person who indeed is a fairy when it comes to coffee. I promised her this model and i will see her next week, ayayayayyyyaaaayyyyyy!! The other model comes from Agora Miniatures and will be the model i will paint at the class as i can't do anymore of those demonettes :D
I somehow start to miss my workbench while packing after there will be a little vacation time after the upcoming class - nothing from my side during the next week ... i'll hide away and eat empty some banana tree forests.

After my Games Day Fear finally disappeared i am really looking forward to do something back on my workbench. First there will be the Painting Class in Hannover the upcoming weekend and afterwards my gf and I jump the car with friends to have some days of holidays without miniatures - after this i will kick ass at my table and the jungle will for sure be a bit more busy again - after those lazy days gone, there is so much to do and maybe also some projects to jump the plain - as i am preparing the Painting Class there is one song in my playlist that i really enjoy everytime i hear it ...

This little article will take the view on basing again. It is about basing with gypsum and how you can add fine little details to your base.For sure this is nothing really new or ultrafencycool - it might just bring you some inspiration.
When basing with Gypsum there are often finished products to use. For sure you can add them to your base wish and bring them in place as you like. As gypsum is a great material it helps to cut an edge somewhere, destroy here and there to create enough variety that it still is intresting for the viewers eye. For example if a column is broken there has the be a rest of the column on the ground - the part that falls down and stays on the ground is often forgotten.
Here is a little example on how i work in some detail with gypsum after i've placed the main construction of the base. First, cutting small "stone dirt":
Next it is glueing tiny parts in place. It helps to use a toothpick for picking up superglue and also for placing it:
Little details underline the whole composition and can take the viewers eye at hand to focus at the miniature itself. It still keeps things interesting and natural. Here are some more examples on how you can achieve a detail base look by using really small stuff in your composition:
While painting such detail gives you the oppourtunity to work with a more detailed light situation. Remember that this is not only available while working with gypsum. There is a contrast called "small to big" and it works with everything you want to use, for example while working with wood pieces or tiny roots:

This little review will be about the german Games Day which took place last weekend in Cologne.
First of all i want to thank D. for a shelter that felt like home and K. for his exquisite driving skills. We had a hard trip up Cologne. 5 big guys in a car and a lot of holiday traffic on the streets. Sadly we have not been able to take part in the so called painters dinner on Saturday Night, where many painters from all over Europe have met to greet friends and look at miniatures. Next year for sure, we will try our best but this year it was kind of impossible for our tortured bodies to be hard as a rock - sleep was calling.
Big Jungle Congratulations to everyone who entered the contest. There were many crazy and beautiful entries to see. Bigger Jungle Congratulations to those who placed and took home a demon or more. My deepest Kong Fu bow and congratz go to my monkeybrother Matt Cexwish for creating a real mad diorama, the kind of "Never seen before" - wow, really well deserved.
After a short night of resting and restoring energy we made it to the "Gürzenich", where the Games Day Germany 2011 took place. At this point we got to thank GW for doing such a great organisation early in the morning and during the whole day. It has been my first Games Day and i also took part in the Golden Demon Competition with the Ultramarine vs. Tyranid Diorama. It was strange for me as i did not prepare or create it for the Games Day in particular. It was going with me to Cologne as i delivered it to the comissioner. So i was really exited if it could place amongst all the other stunning entries.
The Games Day itself was a pretty cool event and action was all around all the time. I can't really tell you what exactly was going on as time went by fast as hell. I was very happy to meet old buddies and chat with new faces. I am also very thankful about all the nice feedback you threw at us about Massive Voodoo. I was really surprised and feel deeply thankful for all your nice comments or your cool T-Shirts ;)
As i told you it is hard for me to tell exactly what was going on. Somehow it was a really mad day. There have been Orcs, Space Marines and crazy Miniature people all around. There have been several painting workshops around the day by several well known and famous painters and i also did a little conversion session amongst them. The only thing i did not like at the Games Day was the noise - so many people and nowhere to hide :D - I did a little video sequence for you, those who weren't able to come so you can maybe catch a little of the athmosphere by those impressions. Many thanks to Peter for doing some damn cool Miniature photos amd Philip again for allowing me to use both their great photos for the video. I will link up some more galleries later on, after the video - i hope you enjoy:
