Seminar information! Updates!

by Roman aka jar

Hey Jungle,
time for a seminar update and little news ...

Some time has passed, that year is racing fast
and I am enjoying teaching a lot in 2018.

Right now there is a small summer break before I head to the US for the NOVA Open 2018. You might have realized that I am taking things slower this year and take breaks off from work here and there to enjoy and live my life. It is very important for me this year. This being said you will find me teaching all over the rest of 2018 and can check back with seminar dates via the seminar roadmap 2018 that is updated regularly. I also will work more on my paintjobs as soon as the summer heat did pass by in the studio. It is truely no fun at the moment.
That roof is on fire and the studio is under itm
melting brains, drying paint too quick.

Following you find all actual updates on the seminars,
including the Advanced Class' english PDF. All students enrolled yet for this 6/12 will recieve an email shortly.

Quick overview
- here are the dates and topics for 2018. Red are upcoming seminars,
green
are the ones in the past. Check for the reviews on the green ones.
Update:
You now can find so far enrolled student numbers behind the seminars.
All seminars in Augsburg will take place as soon as we got up to three students!

Review: OSL Masterclass, Augsburg, Germany

by Roman aka jar

Ever wanted to learn how to paint Object Source Light (OSL)?

Well, Roman's one day masterclass on the subject is the place to learn it. Find more information on the seminar via Roman's curriculum:

Instructor: Roman Lappat
Duration: Saturdays (one day)

I usually do not teach masterclass seminars, but when I do these seminars focus on one subject, because they aim to teach you to master a certain topic. This Object Source Light (OSL) Masterclass
all about light sources from objects and about the "how to" place them and the "why" behind it. After this seminar you can transport these into your projects easily.

Main topics:
- Understand the principles of OSL
- Learn how to include them on different materials
- Learn about different time slots when to include these effects in your projects

Student level: All

We did meet up in the MV studio ...

Some brave students who were ready to learn and master OSL. Roman took them through his seminar schedule and everybody was busy. At the brush and in the brain.

The first lessons were learned on these glowing fellas ... Kame-Hame-Ha!

The second object of studies were these bigger orcs ... Object source light?

This gang of painters got it!

Kame-Hame-Ha!

Keep on happy painting!
Yours
Roman

Review: Private Coaching with Margot and Kyle

by Roman aka jar

Aloa,

it has been said enough times. It is review time on Massive Voodoo.
So much happened the last couple of months. Time to look back!

After the Duke of Bavaria
Margot and Kyle visited me for a two day private coaching session in the MV studio. Not has it only been a great teaching time, it also were some great days of friendship. Together - with me in the lead of the seminar - we looked in depth on the subject "How to paint atmosphere!" ...

Kyle, me, Margot

Instructor: Roman Lappat

My Advanced miniature painting class, a class that takes my students deeper into my brain, after the famous Beginner's Class.
The subjects are getting more complex in this class. It took me about three years to extract the concept out of my own learning process to make this class another eye opener for every miniature painter who wants to raise his skills.

Main topics:
- Learn to paint atmosphere in a Miniature Project
- Learn to keep everything in your project balanced in harmony
- Doing a simple, but effective conversion to make your model unique
- Learn quick and effective rules creating amazing gaming bases
- Learn to paint skintones
- Learn to paint the colors 'black' and 'white'
- Advanced Color Theory
- Advanced Blending Techniques
- Advanced Happy Painting Methods
- and more!

Student level: AdvancedFor this class you should be prepared with an advanced skill level. You should know about zenital light, basic color theory, contrast range and how to create a blending.

Not all during these two days was about cake.

There was stuff to learn ...

... like how to apply strong atmosphere.
First in your brain, then on the figure.

Then there was cake again.
No, this is bread. Wonderful bread.

This is cake. Wonderful cake.

More cake please!

After cake, it was painting time again.

For Margot it was also not only learning to paint atmosphere. She tackled her first bust in acrylics as she usually paints with oils and wanted to learn more about the way to paint nicely with acrylic paints.

The results of both my students were wonderful.
The theory part took quite the time on the first day and then there was too much cake.
On the second day we were able to bring my student's bust this far and I was a happy teacher enjoying the process of my students.

Margot's first go with Acrylic Paints.

Kyle's Hussite Warrior put into a dense forest ambience.

Thank you both for your trust in my teachings
and the great time spent together. And the cake. And the bread. And the good talks.

Happy Painting!
Yours
Roman

Review: Jar's Speedpainting Masterclass, Augsburg, Germany

by Roman aka jar

Zombies?
Indeed.

Quite the amount of reviews to write here for the jungle as a lot of teaching has happened recently. The last couple of months were packed with teaching different seminars and private coachings. This one is a quick review on

Instructor: Roman Lappat

Duration: Saturdays (one day)
I usually do not teach masterclass seminars, but when I do these seminars focus on one subject, because they aim to teach you to master a certain topic. This Speed Painting Masterclass is all about speed, efficency and zombie hordes.

Main topics:

- Learn to paint a Zombie gaming figure in about fifteen Minutes
- Speedpainting techniques and training
- Learn these techniques on Zombies, but learn how
to put them to your other gaming figures too

Student level: All

I want to thank this cool gang of students for their bravery to join up for speedpainting!

During this one day seminar
I did explain my way of speedpainting rules that help me to paint a Zombie up for gaming in about 15 Minutes. These were my two examples.

We've meet up in the MV studio and after my explanations it was time for my students to apply the newly learned techniques. First training and then less and less time for painting up one Zombie. Everyone was able to finish several ones ...

What a gang of painters can do on a one speedpainting seminar ...

Why is speed an interesting topic to learn?
Well, everyone knows how many models are there to paint. Some for gaming, others for display. It is just the best feeling to call something done and to learn a quick approach for gaming models is priceless. It saves you lifetime and time you can spent more on your display projects.

Thanks to everyone for attending the class and thank you for some Zombie donations to the great cause that is MV's Zombie Community project.

Keep on happy painting! Fast!
Yours
Roman
