News: Workshop Information

by Roman aka jar

Hey Jungle,
unfortanetely I do not have any new news on the workshop front.

Due the Covid-19 situation I can not find/release dates and announce big group workshops or the new dates for the postponed ones. Also the seminars for June have to be canceled.

I am ready, but I can not.  As long as the information of the goverment is lacking or missing decisions when it is allowed for me to teach again concerning this situation I am not able to teach in large groups. I am also waiting for news around the NOVA OPEN 2020. Even the well known Octoberfest in Munich, got canceled this year. Let's see where this goes for the rest of the year. As the paragraphs are changing and opening up here and there I can tell you I am on it and well informed. I am looking forward to teach again, I miss it.

Of course I will keep you all informed. I hope to start teaching private coachings at last soon.
Stay tuned!

Keep on happy painting!
Roman

Mu 107 - Mr Lee's Minis - Busts

by Roman aka jar

Hey Jungle,

today we will have a closer look on two busts from the new series of "KNOX" by Mr. Lee's Minis.
A series of SciFi cyberpunked characters that defenately have their own style. If you want to read more reviews like this, check back with the Miniature Unpacked overview on Massive Voodoo.

The series "Knox" consists of 5 different characters. I got two on my table for this review.

The models are delivered in plastic boxes that keep the models safe and also show the artwork to the characters.

Let's have a look on 'Fox Jupiter' and 'Arbiter' ...

Arbiter
The quality of the cast is really good. Minor work has to be done, but it is really not much time needed to prepare the resin model. The model arrives in six parts. It comes like this, nothing has been prepared or cleaned ...

The fitting quality is superb.

The level of detail is nice in most of the parts, love the main body and details on his clothing at the arms. The face with hair and partly face mask is truely beautiful and shows a cool character. The gun itself is simple in the sculpt and detail, but a gun should work and does not need flowery emblems in a cyberpunk world, right?

Fox Jupiter
This lady comes with a grim look and in five parts. Again high quality resin cast with not much to work on. A little bit more as some parts are still tied to the resin remains from casting. Take care here when cutting them. Article about blades?

The level of detail is really nice and also the sculpture feels very natural. Very often in the miniature world sculpts of woman feel a little bit awkward with too big boobs and all that sex sells stuff. This ain't the case here. A very natural look to her. Love it!

The little detail of her nose piercing is quite cool. She really had a bad day from her looks ...

On the back of the head there is little remain of casting, but this can be removed easily.

The fitting quality is really good on this one too. The build in snaps fit perfectly. See the snap in this picture?

The gun design on this one is pretty cool and unique, but stays simple. A little cleaning is needed here too.

Well, I really do like this series and I plan to use these models for upcoming explanations in private coaching sessions. Really looking forward.

Keep on happy painting!
Yours,
Roman

FIN: Brondi, Wallace and William

by Roman aka jar

Hey Jungle,
a dwarf on a warsheep. Well, yeah.
A great sculpt by Lucas Pina for Spira Mirabilis that I really enjoyed painting

I name the Dwarf 'Brondi',

in dwarfish it means ' the gullible one',

the sheep's name is 'Wallace' and the bird's name is 'William'.

Wallace is quite relaxed and only gets a little excited when he charges into battle.
William is quite pissed all the time, he is supposed to be a big bird of prey, a buzzard, but something went wrong and he did not grow out of his short stature. Brondi himself is a stubborn dwarf who is really good in looking grim, but in the end he does not care about this all too much ...

FIN: The Wurmspat - Nurgle Warrior

by Roman aka jar

Hey Jungle,
I really dig many of the new Games Workshop models.
Not all of the new styled models hit my taste spot, but these Wurmspat Nurgle guys surely did ...
Such a great sculpted gang by David Waeselynck who did the design and sculpts ...

I hope you like him!
This miniature is in private collection! Thank you for your support in my art, work and passion.

Mu 106 - Kensho Miniatures, Skylar

by Roman aka jar

Hello Jungle,
another review dropping into the jungle ... you can find more via this link.
This time about a one piece bust that is freaking cool by the brand Kensho Miniatures.

https://www.kenshominiatures.com/

The bust is high end SciFi themed and the crazy thing is, it comes in one piece. The packing and design is cool, nothing too fency. This is what comes out of a box:

The sculpt itself is cool and if you are a SciFi fan a really cool thing to paint and put your vision too.

The quality of the sculpt and cast is ace. Nothing really to prepare, just put her to a plinth and go with paint ...

Marc Masclans painted this bust up in absolute perfection and really gave her a character that is unique, have a look: https://www.puttyandpaint.com/projects/24980

Not sure if I will paint her myself as Marc's version is so beautiful and almost hits my vision for her. I am really looking forward to see more visions of her painted.

Keep on happy painting!
Yours,
Roman

FIN: Beyond the stars

by Roman aka jar

Aloa MV Jungle,
by now you all should know about the 2020's MV Challenge.
It is on and as we know many people are already working on their entries.

Josua and I, plus Alfonso created some special prizes for the three main winners, all will have a small astronaut in it. Find all information here:
http://massivevoodoo.blogspot.com/2020/04/mv-challenge-2020-beyond-your.html

I painted my small astronaut during my visit in Madrid earlier this year and the miniature art academy by my friend Alfonso Giraldes recorded the process and my explanations. Have a look and check out their great content. We even did a small video to let you have a small preview on what I have done there:

Well, here is 'George' my small Astronaut, beyond the stars
... You can win exactly this project as together with the gold medal in the challenge,
if you place for it ...

This little fella is also on Putty&Paint:

Hope you like him!
Keep on happy painting!
