FM: Force of Nature

by Roman aka jar

Good Morning Jungle,

time for another finished project from my workbench.
This time it is all about nature and spring. The beast here is a so called "Wendigo" and you might know it from playing the "Witcher" computer games. The model itself is done from "Lord of the Print" and I got myself a printed copy that I put to an epic spring themed base. At least this was the plan, you decide if it worked out in the end ...

The base and the conversion to his head was particular fun. I also added several different small 3D printed animals to his base that also got that evil look! Can you find them all?

I wrote a massive step by step article,
explaining the motivation, concept and execution of this project.
It is included in my "Tutorial: Masterclass - Spring", beside much more content to the topic.

You can find the article on

The original art, the miniature itself is for sale, if you are interested in making this unique piece yours, feel invited to check back with my projects for sale via:

So much from my side - back to painting!
Keep on happy painting!
Best Wishes,

FM: Beastman

by Roman aka jar

Hey Jungle,

I painted this 3D printed Beastman during the private coaching session with Sebastian for explanation purposes on the topic "grimdark". It was a lot of fun explaining the basic principles of the topic on this cool figure.

This miniature is in private collection.
 Hope you like him!

Keep on happy painting!
Roman

Review: Private Coaching with Thomas

by Roman aka jar

"Man, this coaching was nessessary. After 15 years in the hobby I already learned a lot of things (and probably forgot the half as well) but after all this time I felt stuck in my painting process and in the hardened structures that said me how I have to paint. I didn't felt joy in the way I paint anymore. So I reached out to Roman because my hobby batteries were simply exhausted.

In these 2 days, Roman showed me quite a number of new impressions and really helped me to get out of my box, showed me how to succesfully paint atmosphere and understand colours better. Combined with some fresh approaches about blending really nailed it for me. So now I'm ready for new challenges.

Above all: Roman is a very pleasant painting companion and I always enjoy the time I can learn from and paint with him."

- Thomas

Thank you for visiting me
for your two days of private coaching,
Thomas.

It has been some relaxed two days with tons to learn and new click moments for my student, but it was great to see your painting skills and understanding of painting grow. The knowledge on how to apply atmosphere into your paintjobs from now on makes me really look forward to what you will come up with it.

I told you there is a difference.
A difference in applying color to a miniature to painting a miniature. Now you got the tools, the eye and the approach to create your worlds in new environment and light. I am very much looking forward to this!

Thank you for your will to learn from me and the nice and good time shared!
Keep on happy painting!

Yours,
Roman

Review: Private Coaching with Sebastian

by Roman aka jar

Good Morning Jungle,

here comes another review of a two day private coaching from earlier this year.
Sebastian, friend, long time student and MV member visited me once again for a private lesson.
He wanted to explore the theme or style "grimdark" in depth with me.

"Thank you again for the two days. I had a lot of fun"

- Sebastian

For the preparation for the coaching I had to dig deep into the topic myself as - so far - grimdark was not yet a style for me. For me, somehow it was a result in painting that fits well to a dark and dirty look on a miniature. Weathering, beaten up armours and more painted shadow, less, but extremely focues light. I was searching a lot on Instagram, found a lot and some really cool looking grimdark miniatures and some just dirty ones. My goal in teaching this specific topic was to explain Sebastian who is already quite the far advanced painter himself some really important guiding directions how to paint his projects more grimdark, but still not losing his knowldege about light and shadow placement and the overall quality of the paintjob: progrimdark you can say!

We had a lot of fun!

Thank you for your continous support and your will to learn from me, Sebastian.

Keep on happy painting!
Roman

FM: Rain of Vengeance

by Roman aka jar

Hey Jungle,

after the diorama "Eye of the Storm" I am truely in a happy "framing things" mood and got tons of ideas. I really enoy this type of diorama as it connects me heavily with a more solid painting on canvas approach. Not just painting a part of a miniature with color. It is a full canvas for me and it brings me unbelievable joy in terms of painting and composition.

I created this small framed vignette, called "Rain of Vengeance" some weeks back and it was a lot of fun - I hope you like it!

I wrote a massive step by step article, explaining the motivation, concept and execution of this project. You can find the article on etsy: https://www.etsy.com/de/listing/1193453968/step-by-step-rain-of-vengeance
