Acutal Work in Progress, straight from the table... everything will be explained in the Step by Step soon...
Still a lot of things on my to do List... i feel joy painting this bust up to bring my feelings and impressions i did get from the Series "The Pacific" and the book "With the old Breed" into it, but in the end it is somehow mostly sadness... Photo done with lightning of the camera, actual from my workbench...
And i found a photo of an USMC rifleman which also has a robe instead of the chain on his dog tags... everything fine with me.

Hi Roman,
you totally got me with the pacific fever by showing this bust...I'm on episode 9 of "The Pacific" now...and I'm lurking here to see new pictures :)
Really looks cool so far...the dirt on his neck looks so realistic-can't wait the step-by-step ;)
@Gunslinger
If you are into this theme... i can only recommand to you the book "With the old Breed", you'll get a total different feeling for the series and a real good background on the events on Peileilu and Okinawa - i am watching the series again and it completly feels different after the book... can't describe it... it's definatly nothing cool or wow or yeah...
Peleliu in english... ;)
he's beautifull *.*
Wow! I'm impressed!
@Jar: well since I saw "Letters from Iwo Jima" (a year ago-but still love it...which shows the war from the perspective of the japanese, my attititude changed totally...I always considered them as cruel monsters due to their terrible warcrimes...but this movie shows their human side as well as their extreme bravoury and "samurai"-feeling.
And now these series touch me too...I think you see well on the different characters what war oes too people...the old doc (Sledge's father) describe it quite well as he said that he does not want his son to return with "no life in his eyes"
I therefore like the Ban of brothers and pacific series, because they show that war destroys people physically an mentally...
The "cool" was ment for your bust, which looks great, not for the ar movies ;)
I seen the progress yesterday and i'm impressed by all the energy you put into this work.
As we talked today and the past days about this, i think this is one of the most powerful works regarding your feelings to the theme and work from you over last years.
Keep on and don't let yourself get eaten up by the feelings in your heart and head while painting!
Cheers,
Raffa
You inspired me to read "With the old breed", and after I finished it I have to say that it gives a completely new understanding to the terror of war. Your Bust looks amazing, like always, but why is there mud in the face and not on the clothes?
Thanks to you all for your motivational words...
@Gunslinger
I not really thought you did get me wrong, indeed i thought you got me right, but i wanted to tell the ones reading here to avoid misinterpretations... yeah, no life in the eyes describes this well... but i have no imagination what it means in real i guess...
@D_King
Glad you feel the same about the book. To answer your question: Because he is not finished yet! :) - it has been a progress photo in the middle of the Working Action... more to come soon...
