NEWS: Ropecon 2023 - Roman invited as Guest of Honor

I will be at @ropecon.fi this summer.
Thank you for inviting me as a guest of honor. I'll do some podium speeches and mini workshops there plus help judging the miniature painting competition. Save the date and see you there!

Ropecon is the largest non-commercial role-playing convention in Europe. Every year it brings together both game enthusiasts as well as professionals in the field of role-playing games. Every year around 6000 attendees gather for a weekend full of role-playing games, fun and excitement. Now, after two pandemic years with online cons, Ropecon returns to Helsinki Messukeskus Expo and Convention Centre.

REVIEW: Private Coaching with Chris

Heyho Jungle,

some weeks ago I was teaching Chris - who came all the way from Texas - in a two day private coaching. Thank you for the cool two days, Chris and thank you for your will to learn from me.

It was my pleasure helping you on your journey.
Thanks a lot for your long and kind review.
There is one special sentence that made me most happy:

"Finally, thank you for sharing your knowledge and happy painting technique with me. It was the first time I have been able to guide my own model rather than follow a recipe or the GW website. I finally feel like I have the freedom to step out and paint what I want rather than what someone shows me. " - Chris




CHRIS:

"Thank you for everything:

- First for taking us to your new village and sharing Maifest with us. It was truly a once in a lifetime experience for a family from Texas that didn’t know the traditions existed. 

- For making me feel welcome in your studio and for allowing me to ask questions then restate your teachings. That is my way of knowing I understood everything, and some people get upset about it. 

- For feeding me (multiple times) and keeping me hydrated.

- For sounding like my mother and correcting my posture. I had to remind myself over and over again during the coaching, and thankfully I didn’t hurt too bad the next day. 

- For picking us up and dropping us off at the hotel in the rain. 

- For giving me the painting supplies. It will be a good reminder of our coaching every time I use the brushes to dip into the matte black color thief. 

- For sitting and talking with me during the breaks and sharing your thoughts on the world. Your perspective is very different than mine, and I really enjoyed hearing about how you see the world. Also for telling me about the “Last Knight” project. As you talked about it, I could feel your excitement for the project. It is a story worth telling and I hope to see it one day (whether on massive voodoo or the games day website).

- For gifting me the Jedi Kid. I am honored that you decided that i would be the right home for her. I am too scared to take her out of the bubble wrap to show Sarah and John, so I was extremely happy to see the pics of her you posted on Reddit.

- Finally, thank you for sharing your knowledge and happy painting technique with me. It was the first time I have been able to guide my own model rather than follow a recipe or the GW website. I finally feel like I have the freedom to step out and paint what I want rather than what someone shows me. 

Thank you again for everything. I look forward to seeing you again sometime in the future.

REVIEW: Private Coaching with Hannes

Hey Jungle,

Hannes visited me from Austria for a two day private coaching session in my studio in Augsburg.
We had some two intense learning days where I helped Hannes to work his way from idea, through a concept to an almost finished vision. Just Hannes guiding himself.

This was beautiful to watch.
