First, Music!

Today, while i was saying "hi" to this wonderful day classical music radio was my welcome hymn for the day. I had a stupid idea again, like most of the time when a day starts. Today this idea was epicly stupid. I choose to assort my miniature consumables. I fast learned that this will only be a start with an end never in sight. I will go that way as i was really impressed by Raffa's good sorted materials. I will switch from a box wih small plastic drawer to big clear boxes, while the consumables will be held in little plasitc sacks where i write the content on. I guess i am getting old by doing this finally after 5 years of collecting an horrible amount of little detail things you never look again. Old, yeah... maybe, haha, but when i look at my youthful brave and will to bring this to an end i know getting old is still far away... maybe.

I guess some of you know what i mean. I will sort this stuff and really only keep what i might need in the future. The rest will go into a big plastic box and will be sold on ebay. I need space to breath fresh air :) - Todays plan is organizing the stuff on top, which is actually from 3 drawers... Ahhhh...

After several hours i have decided to make go the radical road, either there would never be a chance to see the light of tomorrow...

Yeah! Done for today... with searching the things i want to hit to ebay and those which i still have to sort (some are already)... oh hell, this is really a stupid idea... still. The fat bags on the upper left will soon hit ebay - i have no idea what is in there, about 7 years of bits from too much things that i can't remember anymore, it is many and maybe intresting to one out there - it is unsorted :)

Keep on happy painting!

Painting class information...

Here is a little information to the painting classes i do.
Edwin asked me about doing such an event in Poland and as i was writing my answer to him i thought this might be intresting for others, but acutally i am not sure. Whatever here goes my answer:

"Hi Edwin,

sorry for my late reply. I do a lot of Email writing all day long and so it always takes it time :)

"... i was wondering if there is a possibility to invite You to do such event in Poland ?" (could be somewhere else too!)

For sure that would be awesome! I really would love to do so and i already thought about asking my best friend, which lives in Berlin for translation during the class, because he is polish and speaks german too. That would be pretty cool. Let me explain to you a bit of the class thing i have going on there:

As i am becoming a teacher of Art and Art history someday in the future in normal schools i am doing a little break at the moment from it. I try to make a living completly from my miniature love. As i am painting like crazy to stay alive i have painted a lot of miniatures the past years and gained some experience that way. I thought about sharing it with other Painters by doing such classes. It took a while to plan the class content and i had my first class one year ago in Graz/Austria. Since then the class, has improved a lot. It is aimed to be a beginner's class, but also brings experience painters a lot of inspiration and new ways of thinking. In the class i try to make a jump from understanding colours, colour choices, light, emotions to bring the feeling on what you do while swinging the brush by taking a look on art history through the whole weekend. In the end i'd like to mention that i can't do such a class without earning money by doing so.

I usually start planning such an event when somebody asks me like you did :)

You can do this easily via dropping me an email at: jarhead---at---massivevoodoo---dot---com
Also know that Peter aka Baphomet is helping me out with the organisation of the class, so it might happen that you fastly get in contact with him after your mail to me. You can also write Peter directly at: Baphomet---at---massivevoodoo---dot---com

There are different things that influance how much it might cost per person, like how far have i to travel, do we need to pay a rental fee for the place, where do i sleep, etc. etc. etc. - these things have to be fully covered and also an additional amount for the preperation time, worktime during holding the class, material cost per every participant. The one person organizing it at place - somebody like you maybe - can be in the class without paying.

I guess this was the most important information so far - if you are intrested in still planning such an event with us Peter and I would love to read an email from you where we could chat and prepare further details.

I do like Rémi Gaillard.
Now he puts it where he wants it again.
I don't like soccer very much, but the magic he does is so amazing... it is just the same with our colours i would say - so Put it where you want it!

Tutorial - How to use 2K water effect on a base

by Roman aka jar

Aloa.

This time it is about how to do it right or better than before :)
If you are intrested in what can went wrong by doing 2 Component water check this article!

Using 2K water effect on a base

What you need is:

- Some kind of 2K water effect (beware to read the instructions, everyone is different)
- 2 cans
- a toothpick
- adhesive tape
- and a base where you want to put your water
- and maybe some coffee, if you like coffee

Next use the adhesive tape and bring it into the same height you want the water height to be. Make sure it is everywhere on the same level. Then make sure to streak the sides plain to avoid that the water runs aside later on. Also make sure you'll reform the edges with your fingers, it is important that those are very exact.

Now, take the cans and fill the same amount of the 2K bottle content into them. One can for every 2K bottle. Make sure you really hit the the same amount, if it helps make a mark with marker at the cans. Now you got to choose one of the cans you want to mix it in. In the other can you'll do a bit more of the content, not much, just a tiny amount - this provides that you'll get the 50/50 mix you want when bringing both together. The last addition is to negate the loss you'll get when pouring it together. Then mix it slowly by using the toothpick. Really slowly, if you do it too fast you'll get bubbles, make sure it is really mixed well (about 3~5 Minutes). Now pour it up to your base and make sure you bring in as much to reach the height of your adhesive tape. Do a little bit more, as the 2K water downsizes a bit while drying.

Now get it back to a place where it is safe by flour and wait until it is dry. If you have done everything right this should take about 2 days, for sure it is important how deep your water is. I have not tried deep water yet, but i guess you have to go there with more steps. You can check the drying status of your 2K water by looking back at your toothpick and the remains in the can. When it is dry you can try to remove it also from the base. Be carefully and when you are not sure if it is already dry stop it and wait one day more. After removing the adhesive tape you'll get a plain area if you did that extra drop on top that i have explained above. If not, you will get an ugly edge.

After the tape is removed you still can clean that mess up by using sandpaper from low to high numbers and make it even more shiny again. Carefully use a scalpel to remove ugly edges. Using Sandpaper again and again. In the end the final step would be to use gloss varnish to repair areas which are not so nice, even you have taken your time with the sandpaper, that helps a lot and i guess doing this more often you'll get better and better - at least i hope so for me.

I hope you like this tutorial, finally it worked a bit better than the first try :)

Keep on happy painting!
