hey folks,
long time no hear or see..
her is my newest work..i hope you like it
its a jointventure between me and a Ernst Veingart ,a mainly historical sculptor from riga in latvia,
we met at the world expo 2008 in girona..
and as we liked each others work... we decided to do a team project..
i had a idea for a biiig project...for next world expo
but first we decided to make a small project for the start ... to see if we could work together.
our small idea turned out to become a real big thing..
starting with one of my favorite topics of all time.. Alice in the wonderland..with a picture by Arthur Rackham
http://web228.011.netroom.de/blog/wp-content/uploads/Arthur-Rackham-Alice-in-Wonderland.jpg
and it turned out to be one of the most challenging pieces off what i have painted so far.
we thought long time how to transform this drawing in to a 3d sculptur..
i dont want to sound to theatrical but.. i must really thank Ernst for having such a deep trust in me sending me his lovechild alice ... after knowing me just a couple of days. and trusting me that i will du my best to paint her up. And his lovely wife Inara for backing him of for the nearly three month he worked full time on that sculpt.
And i whant to thank my girl kristin ....because she beared my bitchyness whenn i was going crazy because of paintnig to many cards..
and thanks to Marlene Fulde for those Fotos....

One of the most innovative pieces I've seen so far!!!
You and Ernst did a real great job!
Great piece! Great paint and great sculpt!
This Alice is somewhat astonishing for it is both an achievement in painting, design and sculpt.
The sheer amount of passion and brains behind this is utterly unbelievable.
I just don't know how you managed to paint it and him to imagine how to sculpt it.
There are all the characters from the first book (maybe the Jabberwocky and the others for an other project?) becoming cards and doing what they were supposed to do like in the book(the Hare, the Mad Hatter with the tea and teapot with the mouse -if I rememeber correctly-). And each one is lovely built in the scene.
A real pity that the Queen wasn't "offing" any heads!!!!
Impressive job!
I bow to the sculptor and the painter! Ernst's jobs is so amazing...I had a look at the wip pictures and I'm speechless by the way he puts togehter all these small characters...especially the little guy with his cup of tea and the underplate...WOW! Great work on the painting too
This is wonderful! Ben Komets! ... what else?
Unbelievable. I recommend everyone check out the link at the bottom to the green. There are lots of WIP pictures, and it's cool to see how the sculptor pieced everything together.
P.S. I'd love it if you were to do one of the 360º videos of this, so we can see it from all angles.
I saw this up close and personal at Euro Militaire its Sweeet !!!!!!!! with a capital S.
Good to meet you Ben,
Robin
Ben, your my man... Benniebunny :-)
hope to see more from you in the near future.
I see a lot of really good work out there these days but the best has imagination and pushes the envelope of what can be accomplished. I don't remember ever seeing anything as wonderful as this work of art. As one of the founders of the World Expo Shows the story of how this partnership came about does my heart good as well. I hope that you both do more work like this in the future. ~Jim
Ernst: amazing to sculpt such a miniature. Just the Imagination how it shall look and always having the picture in the mind to create such a wonderful work. Also the story is well chosen, because Alice in wonderland is a real fantastic story. I will be happy to see it one day in original, to look all the many small things, which can not be seen on the pictures. Ben, it is fantastic painting!!! Great work!!!
WWuuuhhhoooooaaaaa...... jungle fever!!!

Wow! This is just amazing.
Extraordinary!! All these Details are just stunning me.
This is more than impressive my friend. The sculpt was looking great when i saw it back in Berlin last year, but with your painting this is really gorgous... Thanks for sharing it! So many freaking details everywhere and everything seems to be alive... wow!
Wow.
This is an incredible piece, the sculpt is just WOW, the painting is breath taking... simply amazing. I can definitely sympathize on the card painting, that would be nerve wracking. Bravo on the work!
this is fantastic! will this by available for purchase?
