FM: Knight of the City of Lübeck - 1/72

It has been some time indeed since last I posted some finished miniatures. As noted in the prelude to my project diary earlier this year, I have not been particularly productive miniature-painting-wise in 2021. Consequently, there's not so much new stuff to show. However, I still have a number of older minis created in 2020 that I have not shown yet. A few days ago, I managed to take some sufficiently decent pics and will show you in the coming weeks some of those older works.

Today, we'll start with a 1/72 miniature depicting a Knight bearing the arms of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck. The mini is a wonderful sculpt from Valdemar Miniatures, flawlessly cast in white metal. The scene shows our knight from Lübeck right before the Battle of Bornhöved, in which the troops of the Hanseatic League led by Count Adolf IV of Holstein defeated the army of the Danish king, Valdemar II, in July 1227. In the little vignette, I wanted to create the atmosphere of a hot summer day on the plains of Northern Germany. Our knight, part of the Lübeck contingent of Count Adolf's supporters from the Hanseatic League, is awaiting the onset of the battle full of confidence, certain that the luck of battle will be on his side...
