Into the wild ...

posted by roman, jarhead, kong

I have arrived home again.
Home - a simple word with just 4 letters but with so much meaning.
Meaning from deep inside the chest, every breath is home at home,
you can even feel it in your bones.

After the painting class in Graz I did spent some days in Graz at Robert's -
I am lucky to have this second home in Austria so I want to thank everyone
of my friends for such great days.

I am starting my casual workflow again today and got many task to fullfill.
Many emails, many things to do - doing them all step by step -
home :)

INTO THE WILD
I did not yet know about that movie.
Robert made me watch it and whatever you might think of Christopher McCandless there is a deeper truth in this movie. I really fell in love with this and the movie recieved a place in my all time favourites, in fact I would recommand it to you if you not lready saw it. I somehow got stuck to the lyrics of this song:

From Into The Wild
Lyrics Eddie Vedder - Society

It's a mystery to me
we have a greed
with which we have agreed

You think you have to want
more than you need
until you have it all you won't be free

Society, you're a crazy breed
I hope you're not lonely without me

When you want more than you have
you think you need
and when you think more than you want
your thoughts begin to bleed

I think I need to find a bigger place
'cos when you have more than you think
you need more space

Society, you're a crazy breed
I hope you're not lonely without me
Society, crazy and deep
I hope you're not lonely without me

There's those thinking more or less less is more
but if less is more how you're keeping score?
Means for every point you make
your level drops
kinda like it's starting from the top
you can't do that...

Society, you're a crazy breed
I hope you're not lonely without me
Society, crazy and deep
I hope you're not lonely without me

Society, have mercy on me
I hope you're not angry if I disagree
Society, crazy and deep
I hope you're not lonely without me

Sometimes I feel that I am not really a part of this so called society, I mean c'mon I try to live my life from painting miniatures which a) isn't easy but b) is just amazing and makes me happy in a way that only something called "home" could nearly reach. Isn't it right that if your job feels home you are doing the right thing, even those ups and downs, which are a normal thing in a daily job. I always find it interesting to see other people - for example on a 7 hour train ride like yesterday - listen to their chats, their priorities, sometimes their frustration, sometimes their happiness ... I really love this as I always learn something about myself by doing so ...

Whatever :D

  1. Did you know that, if you replace all the letters of the word "HOME" you get "BEER"? ;)

  4. Eddie Vedder is the man, Jar. Never knew about this song so thanks for bringing it up to my attention.

Now... you know, I often feel the same about it. That the society and our civilization got us entangled in a web of things we don't really need and often pursue only because we're used to doing so.

It's awesome that there are people who manage to live their lives not caring much about what others say, expect or demand. Living their fascinations and passions, even if it means sacrificing something else. Fortunately if you manage to get out of the trap created by the modern society, you can feel free and happier.

Keep enjoying what you do. Never allow your passion become a burden for you. I don't know if you've been at the point of burnout. I had it and it took me quite some time to rediscover the enjoyment of this hobby. And it would be a loss for us all if you got to that point. But don't look so much at what others expect of you. Live your life. Stay cool :)

  5. On eof the best movies ever... Sean Penn created a masterpiece, and it took him several years to complete it. They shot without any artifical lighting in the outside...

It affected me that much, I wanted to travel out into the wild myself.

But that was not all your post was about. To get a real and unveiled look on society you have to be some steps away from it. Your path is in the miniature kind of things, and you do with such love and passion that it reaches out into the big world and touches everyone who has the ability to realise it.

It actually wouldn't make a difference if you were repairing cars or doing industrial design. Your true self would still shine trough and affect others. It doesn't matter what instrument you're playing on, the melody would still reach out into the world.

So much for Friday evening thoughts. Stay yourself!

  6. After your post that had the music from the film, I watched it last night. What a trip. Definitely I was along for the ride of self discovery there. Great recommendation.
