Your shelves fell most likely because you installed the Ikea Detolf wrong. The bars for the shelves should be on the inside. From the photo, they are on the outside which makes it very easy for the shelf to slip off.
At first glance, the models seemed to be mostly works in progress. Then, in horror, I realised that this wasn't the case. Hopefully the damage is minimal and easy to repair.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
After the box with my selfsculpted gd entry for this year fell down when I slipped, I can imagine what you feel! All these well painted figures! I feel with you!
It happenede exactly the same to me (and some of my friends) at a contest...after all the pieces were displayed, a small hit to the display case made three of the shelves to fall down onto each other...To be in front of the four Choas Gods was nothing in comparison...the sense of impotence while seeing your paintjob compromised almost forever was unbearable...Sorry about it...Damn IKEA cases... Doc
Thank you all for your kind words... I took "The Rising" out of the cabinet to show it it to my cousin... unfortunatly there was a tiny little bit of "Patafix" left on the socket, so the class-shelf was moved too. Because of the sudden movement the metal-framework started shaking and all shelfs fell down...
It was a strange feeling... I was not angry or something like that... just stunned and in this mood I started recovering the miniature-parts... I think in situations like these you just can accept the facts...
I know what went wrong and so I will correct the cabinet this evening, reorganize my working place and start to repair my miniatures. Fortunetly it seems most of the minis are not damaged too much, so it will only take some minior repairs. But I will use the chance/time to "pimp" most of them for "Duke of Bavaria" (as it was already planed)... I´m just forced to invest some more time for this ;)
Good Roman always says: "Everything happens for a cause..." Even as I hate this sentence most of the time he says it, he is right in this situation ;) I think there will be some more articles soon :D
YYYAAAARRRR!!!! Everything always happens with a reason - the meaning can still be unclear for a while but in the end it will turn out as it should and be just fine ...
Damn... You have my whole symapthy, Peter. May they all come back to their former glory and win you some prices and medals at the Duke. The Big Kong is surely right in his believe. It helps even in such situations.
Stay positive and the minis will get even more stunning.
jesus, that is actually tragic. I have no words. Feel better soon fella.
