  1. for me, it is this one, no question

I am a teacher, and art is one of my subjects, so often I see on sites and forums the typical artists mistake of assumed knowledge when explaining some technique. this article is so good because it targets the gaps in the assumed knowledge and explains a lot of the things often left unsaid.

    :)

  2. for me it was the step by step painting from Brother Dariel.

I do exactly the same, buy the same colour, and this bring me to a higher level of painting.
And my Terminator looks for me very good.
you can see with this step by step, that everyone can painting a cool high level Miniature.

  4. I've only just recently got into painting miniatures, and these tutorials are the best I've seen yet, it's hard to say which one is my best!
The painting tutorials have been a big help, the tutorial on how to paint human skin and face has helped me out a lot. They're really in depth and the pictures are great it's really easy for me to follow and understand how it's done.

  9. I think my favourite is the article about oil paints

Tutorial - Miniature Painting with Oil Colours / Beginner's Guide

It inspires me to buy my first oil colours. No I have to found the bravery to use them, too :-)

  11. My favourite article has to be the one explaining how to base with wood parts and stuff - simple to do and looks fantastic. Plus it's mainly free stuff.

  12. Well for me it should be the weathering tutorial. It did improve my bases massively. Or the Real LEnticular thingy? (looks brilliant on gasmasks) No, it's gotta be the mininatur stuff. Now I've got it! It was the Tau Fire Warrior Airbrush tut. Or was it the Modern warfare base? The jungle base? Oh, boy... so hard to decide. I love em all and all of them basically did improve my skill.

  13. The big oil painting tutorial with the video in the showing you paint!
I was starting to learn and get xp with oils but and of course i had a lot of errors first.BUT then i saw that you'll do a tut with oils so i thought that i'll wait for your article so maybe i'll get some knowledge from it.I was sitting on needles just to read your tut.
It was fascinating to read and watch! After reading and watching it several times i tried out what i have learned.
I thought that i should try the new knowledge under pressure so i did a comission work with oils for my boss.It was a 54mm naked woman with soooooo much flesh area(You should know that i have to colors that i am afraid to paint: blue and flesh color). But it turned out great. My boss was so pleased with the result that he gave me two more comissions to paint.
So that is my favorite tut from you!

  15. Great question. One article I used as inspiration to give it a go was the Building up own Weaponry article. I crafted a weapon for one of my models and it turned out really nice. It wasn't too hard, and gives the model a great unique look with it's custom weapon nobody else has. Thanks.

  16. Like many of the previous comments it's very hard to pick just one...but one of my over all favorites is the step by step of the Nurgle Death Guard.

    http://massivevoodoo.blogspot.com/2010/11/step-by-step-nurgle-death-guard.html

Not only is this miniature amazing. I love how you used the small balls from the Brita filter to create puss pockets on the mini and base. Sure beats trying to roll your own balls from green stuff. Helped me in creating my own Nurgle Lord base with various size of balls to give it that more organic feel. As many have said. We've learned alot from this site and I for one have grown as an artist from all the step by steps yall have shown here at massive. Keep up the great work. Cheers!
