Hunter or Hunted - Games Day 2010

Posted by Raffa, Picster, Capuchin,...

Hey everyone!

I finally got some time this morning to take pictures of my latest finished work: "Hunter or Hunted".
As most of you maybe already know it was my entry for this years german Golden Demon and it won the Slayer Sword and gold in the Duel category.
Other entries i had were the well known baal predator that won gold in the vehicle category and my squig hopper which i gave in in the diorama category due to base problems (i made the mini for the french games day where i could not participate).... it won bronze there.

It was a great day there seeing lot of nice works and meeting many great people!!!
I think this was the best thing of the whole day, many many people meeting at one spot and many of them love painting... a gathering of hobby nerds that love their brushes and minis :)
It was also a great fun and honor to paint at the Team Deutschland booth to demonstrate some quick base painting techniques... it's important to show the people that painting can also be fun and quick sometimes and is not always neccesary a science & math thing ;)

So here are the pictures, they aren't my best pictures but i will make some new ones with new light etc.... but at the moment they are all i could give you ;)

And some detail shots:

So i hope you like this duel and as a little fun thing i give you some WiP shots of the project :)

Hope you like 'em :)

Cheers,
Raffa

  5. When there were the first images of this project I tought it had real potential, award winning potential.
But the result are well exceedingly what I expected!

By the way, what kind of glue did you use to hold all those bricks without pinning? Industrial glue? Space glue

  7. Hey everyone! Thanks for the nice words! :)
Earth: I made the earth on the back with potting soil. Glued on there with plenty of superglue

Glue: I used just superglue and white pva glue. nothing special fancy schmanzy space glue or alien saliva, sorry ^^

  15. Excellent work. The base is insane and I like how asymmetrical it is. It really lends great character to the whole scene. Well deserved trophies!

Quick question. What did you use to make the bricks? Thanks and keep up the great work :)

  19. Thanks again for all your nice words of motivation!!!

The bricks are bought from ebay, just search for "1/35 ziegelsteine" on german ebay :)

hmmm i stopped looking at the time but i think 150-250 hours.

    1400 stones were used :)

    Cheers,

  20. Ich hab mich gerade in die Rückwand verliebt, die sieht aus wie echt, nur schöner/echter ;)

(Vorderseite / Minis sind natürlich auch klasse, aber die Rückwand ist einfach genial)

  22. I told you when you wrote the entry cards, that you will win! Its such a perfect work, I am absolutly out of words for it.
But I have one question: Where did you get the inspiration of your Masterpiece????

  23. Bääähm, stunning work. I only miss the promised burning rat ;)

  24. Hehe, i had no time for the burning rat :)

The inspiration or basic idea .... hmm good question.

I was driving back from Ben&Matts Workshop in the car with Troll.... it was raining and i thought of a sewer with a terminator holding up his stormshield to "defend" against dropping water while a enemy sneaks up and he turns around in the last second.
But this idea was too cheesy and roman said i should do something with fantasy :)

So we did some brainstorming and after some other ideas this idea was born :)

  25. Hi Rafael, I know this is an old project, but this is so far the most beautiful I've seen. Despite lots of wonderful projects, whenever I see it, I fell in awe. It combines all the qualities of a diorama. It is beautiful.
    Bravo.
