"When humans participate in ceremony, they enter a sacred space.

Everything outside of that space shrivels in importance. Time takes on a different dimension. Emotions flow more freely. The bodies of participants become filled with the energy of life, and this energy reaches out and blesses the creation around them. All is made new everything becomes sacred."

Some Work in Progress photos are available ...

Painting this sculpt was a wonderful experience for me, personally. I really got a connection to her, the character that was hidden in the sculpt. It was a true joy to dig it out with my paint and brushes.

I will check back with the amount of photos made and hopefully there are enough to write up my thoughts in a step by step article for Massive Voodoo :)

FM: Lady of the Lake

by Roman aka jar

"The Knights of the Realm needed him as the world was at a turning point.
The Lady of the Lake had to fullfil her destiny and wade into the holy water, summoning the Green Knight, the eternal warrior of peace. She was ready, even the water was a little bit cold. She had no fear. Slowly the bottom of the lake started to gloom in deep and rich greens. He was on his way and she was ready for the conception of the eternal green flame! Together they would bring back peace and harmony in their world."

Really enjoyed this bust. I knew I would paint her that way as soon as I got my hands on her two years ago at the Scale Model Challenge. It took me quite some time to call her finished, sometimes project motivation can be a miracle in itself.

It is really interesting to see where she started and where she went in all her different stages:

I plan to write a step by step article on her in the future of the Massive Voodoo, stay tuned!

Review: Advanced Workshop, Augsburg, Germany

by Roman aka jar

"After attending the beginner workshop three times already,
I was very happy that finally an appointment for the advanced workshop worked for me. As always, the arrival felt like visiting a friend.

The learning environment Roman creates is first class. In addition, he is didactically superb. Theory, demonstrations and exercises alternate ideally. Very exciting, I found that Roman had already shown me some of the techniques during my last beginner course. That's why I had used it unconsciously for some time. For me once again a clear confirmation that you can really repeat the beginner workshop at any time again to work on your projects supported by Roman.

Now the whole theory came along. And of course much more conscious painting of the atmosphere. In advance I was not sure if I would like the exercise with the wolf. I was then extremely positively surprised how much fun the exercise has given me. Mixing colors from the primary colors is surprisingly easy and brings a very relaxed creative approach to miniature painting. I'll definitely implement it sooner rather than later at home. And I also learned that I can hit every color very quickly. This allows me to relax even more while painting and color recipes are becoming increasingly unimportant. Another learning success was that you can paint very strange colors on your miniature. These then make a lot of sense in later steps. No matter if the beginner workshop is still fresh, or if you have been painting for a while, I think the advanced workshop is always recommended."

Review:

A group of nine students

- Learn simple, but very effective rules for a gaming base

First of all
a big thanks goes out to Hasslefree Miniatures, who supported the class with a big bunch of miniatures, which were actually perfect for the class concept.

They got great miniatures, check them out here!

A quick photo on the results from the weekend ...
really impressive gentlemen :)

The whole seminar started with tons of theory
 - a big, printed handout, prepared by me helps to guide the student through the seminar. It has thirty three pages!! Additional we went through a lot of explanations and demonstrations to build up knowledge - colorwise, basewise and nature-guidance-wise ...

If you want to join one of my seminars,
feel invited to check back with the

The beginning was getting the figures ready, small conversions, small tricks in preps and a small, but detailed gaming base that would carry our atmosphere plans ...

The studio was home for us ten brave painters who stood against the cold with additional heaters who jammed the electricity not only once! Beware of the boiler for hot water! :D

Ready for some explanations ...

Samstagnachmittag: Malen! Juhu! No more words needed.

  • gutes Essen
  • neue Wahrnehmung
  • Abenteuer

Deine Kurse, also du, sind der Dreh- und Angelpunkt all dieser Dinge." - Michael

Wolves ...

We got no light - again! :D

First explanations on the 'canvas" - nothing better than hands on teaching ...

Our projects during the process of applying all the new theory ...

Busy working in the studio ... painting, painting, painting.

And more hands on explanations ...

Such a nice group of good people!

Our results on Sunday afternoon!

We took the chance to make goodd photos of each project in the end ...

Here they are ...

"Back from Romans Advanced Class,
today I had the opportunity to be brave and practice what I learned. Painted with primary colours only. Somehow the class opened my mind in regards of colour theory and mixing primary colours did not only result in muddy brown. Yeah!"

- Sebastian
