Is there a way to try and do some via a tutorial of sorts ?
Thanks.
ThierryAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2669705958656495659.post-70992384645200934842010-03-20T00:07:46.583+01:002010-03-20T00:07:46.583+01:00@Vittorio ... and everyone else interested :)
Glad...@Vittorio ... and everyone else interested :)
Glad you like!
The tentacles are sculpted with fimo soft. At Mati's sculpting-workshop i got to know the advantages of Super Sculpey but in this case i chose fimo because of it's resistance against mechanical influences after baking. If you knew how often the ship did fall from the table, you'd know what I mean. ;-)

I used a threaded rod to give it the basic shape and stability and wraped aluminium-foil around it to bring in more volume. A lot of wire wraped strongly around the tentacle fixes the foil and helps the fimo not to get out of place all the time. No suckers yet, just a bit of texture on the "back" and right in the oven.
The suckers were made in a second step. It's really easy - and the softness of fimo soft helps a lot getting this elastic look of the suckers.

@all
Have to thank you again for blowing some wind into my sails with your kind words and can't await playing around with colours soon.
Pleasant anticipation is massive. ;-)

Cheers
RobertRobert aka muhanihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10318166724969245416noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2669705958656495659.post-76364533969945518002010-03-19T20:16:00.666+01:002010-03-19T20:16:00.666+01:00Hey Rob, could i ask you what kind of material do ...Hey Rob, could i ask you what kind of material do you use to sculpt the tentacles? It looks really comfortable. Thank's in advance.

P.s. outstanding work as always, you rule dude!Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15873312850016916255noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2669705958656495659.post-21507636379663290832010-03-19T16:48:06.733+01:002010-03-19T16:48:06.733+01:00Thanks Roman for this funny posting.

At the moment it feels like the things left to do become more and more and my self set timelimit comes closer and closer. That means a little preasure - but I like that!

@cianty
Casting the tentacles? hmmmm ... sorry, I can't see a way without cutting them to pieces. But what I can do, is writing a tutorial about how to sculpt a one, when I'm finished. Believe me - it's easier than you might expect and also very cheap.

@Anonymous
The ladies are from ReaperMiniatures. I only cut away some parts to fit them in place and make them look like caryatids of a pimped ship.

@demi_morgana
If you really want to build a ship-diorama on your own, I recommend the shipmodelling-book by Mr. Mondfeld to you. But not before I have lift my curses from it. - these details with all the ropes ... uah .. I get totally insane only thinking about it. ;-)

Thank you all for your kind comments - you really kick a chimp's ass going on with it.
I'm very glad, you like it so far. :)

Cheers
RobertRobert aka muhanihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10318166724969245416noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2669705958656495659.post-20760135555091143322010-03-19T02:15:58.969+01:002010-03-19T02:15:58.969+01:00Fantastic! Look how huge they are, lol. They would cost around 200 Euros or so if they would be casted in resin. (Or even more, don`t know but it would be VERY expensive).

Yep that is really freaky awesome. I really wonder about Robert`s patience, I would rather die than to make such a gigantic project.
