Forest Spirit

by Roman aka jar

Hi Jungle,

I started this great bust by Mirico Miniatures during a private coaching for explanations purpose and as I am slowly coming back to normal painting joy I really enjoyed finishing her up. It is a beautiful sculpt by Pedro Fernandez Ramos and did paint itself. Pedro is really one of the best outthere when it comes to female sculpts. She is based on a high quality plinth by Dino.

Champion of Khorne

by Roman aka jar

Really enjoyed painting this bust by Hera Models.
Unfortanetely it was a limited run and I know people who are having a hard time to get their hands on one copy.

It is a brutal sculpt.
So many heads and arms and hands and bones and skulls and heads. While I was painting a Lucas Pina witch I thought to see owls pop up everywhere. It is the same with this sculpt, but with brutality. It was not easy painting him. Sometimes you just ask yourself: Why? Why so brutal? Then you continue to paint it and just hear yourself say "Chaos!" "Chaos!" all the time :D

I did some photos for a SBS, but did not find the time to write it yet for MV's readers. Here are some photos of the process:

To see more photos of the finished vision I got for this brutal bust, check back with Putty&Paint or romanlappat.com.

The bust itself is already in private collection.
Thank you for your support in my passion, art and work, Sir!

Review: Space Marine Masterclass, Augsburg, Germany

by Roman aka jar

Another review of one of Roman's
brand new seminars this year:

Instructor: Roman Lappat

Duration: Saturdays (one day)

I usually do not teach masterclass seminars, but when I do these seminars focus on one subject, because they aim to teach you to master a certain topic. In this Space Marine Masterclass it is all about the glory of Space Marines. Roman will teach you to convert and paint your own Primaris Marine and shows you all tricks on his disposal on creating epic heroes.

Main topics:

- Converting tricks to create unique heroes
- Learn the grisalle painting technique for maximum contrast
- Learn to tint it properly by using glazes
- Learn tricks to paint all that specific space marine details

Student level: Advanced

For this class you should be prepared with an advanced skill level. You should know about zenital light, basic color theory, contrast range and how to create a blending.

Thanks to a really cool student group.
Thanks for your bravery and courage to take on this class as a premiere and travelling from far and close to this event. There was tons to learn for both ends. I now know what I want to improve of the class, even you guys had tons of fun :)

The first hours of the seminar we did spent with conversions.
Tons of tiny tricks and thoughts on how to make your Primaris more unique.

This guy for example: Fighting of an Alien Mothership on his own. Brrapp! Brraapp!

Careful superglue applications included.

In the future I will stretch this class concept to one and a half days. We were able to check back with most of the things on my list. Fresh painting techniques that help you with speed and detail on Space Marines included. I just missed one or two more hours of hands on painting time for my students.

Well, my students told me they really enjoyed this fresh class concept and that they learned tons. I saw that in their results, but really would have loved to give them more painting time. So with no further bla bla ... check these unique Primaris Gang. Not completly finished in terms of painting :/

Thank you all for the nice feedback on the class and the nice time spent together.
Always remember: There is the right music to build and paint Space Marines :)

Plans to repeat this class are already in the making. It will return in 2019, but optimized :)

Keep on happy painting!
Yours
Roman

Another private coaching review dropping in ...

This time Christian
took the chance to stay for a two day coaching after participating in the OSL masterclass. Our topic for the coaching was to approach the principles on how to paint atmosphere.

We did some great plans prior to the real bust ... a good plan is always best!

Instructor: Roman Lappat

My Advanced miniature painting class, a class that takes my students deeper into my brain, after the famous Beginner's Class.
The subjects are getting more complex in this class. It took me about three years to extract the concept out of my own learning process to make this class another eye opener for every miniature painter who wants to raise his skills.

Main topics:
- Learn to paint atmosphere in a Miniature Project
- Learn to keep everything in your project balanced in harmony
- Doing a simple, but effective conversion to make your model unique
- Learn quick and effective rules creating amazing gaming bases
- Learn to paint skintones
- Learn to paint the colors 'black' and 'white'
- Advanced Color Theory
- Advanced Blending Techniques
- Advanced Happy Painting Methods
- and more!

Student level: Advanced
For this class you should be prepared with an advanced skill level. You should know about zenital light, basic color theory, contrast range and how to create a blending.

Wolves

Christian ready to tackle the bust ...

Not forgetting its hat!

Questions were answered on the spot!

The magic MV sunsets ...

... put Christian in the right ambient light for an example photo.

After some hours of explaining the theory behind my very own observations on the subject atmosphere and helping Christian to tackle his bust with the proper plan I was really proud to see the outcome.

Thank you Christian for your visit and being such cool dude!
I really enjoyed to hear your "click" moments loudly in the MV studio! A true pleasure. Thanks for the great chats about life and the beautiful color that we spoiled.

Keep on happy painting!
Yours
Roman
