Oni

From Wikipedia:

"The word "oni" is sometimes speculated to be derived from on, the on'yomi reading of a character () meaning to hide or conceal, as oni were originally invisible spirits or gods which caused disasters, disease, and other unpleasant things. These nebulous beings could also take on a variety of forms to deceive (and often devour) humans."

I fnished this small bust some days ago. Somehow I saw "Oni" in this character.
I did start the painting for pure pleasure first, then in the end I just wanted to finish it without too much thinking of improvement here and there. I see a lot that I still could do but there are other, more important things waiting on the table ...

The figure comes from the limited "Action for Japan" sold after the Tsunami to help the victims of this tragedy.

I made a photo of the bust in my cabinet with lightning by the camera. Just for another impression of the figure. Don't be confused by the photo, there is another project I am not allowed to show yet, click to enlarge:

Keep on happy painting!
Best Wishes
